| Description |
A programme in which mentors from business or the community are trained
to support pupils in their last years of compulsary education.
Pupils are identified in Yr. 10 who may benefit from the experience
of a Mentor. (This could include a variety of pupils including the
most gifted)
They are allocated an individual mentor from the COMPACT EBP Database
of mentors. They establish targets with the Mentor that will be within
the COMPACT Goal framework. This target setting can take place at
the Partnership Centre as a group activity, as part of the 'Value
for Education' programme with the employer or in the school
The mentor will then monitor the goals on a monthly basis either in
school or off site The mentoring can complement any tutor mentoring
systems that the school has in place and pupils can be brought into
the mentoring system at any stage in year 10 if they are falling behind
with COMPACT goals. The mentor will work closely with the Careers
Adviser and the guidance community within the school. |
